Weeds had taken over our allotment site over Lockdown but the kind team from Dodd Group came to the rescue…
They asked the children to use their creative skills to design their ideal space for learning and relaxing. Plans were merged and a vision was created.
It took many hours of hard work and machinery to clear the site and construct a new shed, shelter, seating and raised beds. It looks fantastic and we are looking forward to many years of growing and learning in the fresh air!
On 9 September 2021, Jason Allcock and James Kirby officially handed over the allotment to Miss Clayton who had been liaising between school and Dodd Group. She was delighted to see how all the children’s ideas and plans had come together. On behalf of all the BGPS community, she thanked Dodd Group for such a generous donation. “This will have such a positive impact on our children’s learning and well-being,” she reported.
Children have already visited the plot for activities including team building, bug hunting, planting and an archaeological dig! The children and staff love the space.
- “It’s amazing! I love coming to work over here!”
- “Can we come every day?”
- “I can’t wait to grow strawberries”
- “We found jewellery, coins and bones on our dig when we were archaeologists!”
Not all classrooms have walls. This is a fantastic learning environment for our children.
