Extra Curricular Opportunities

At Bordesley Green Primary School, we are proud to offer a wide range of exciting after school clubs and out of hours learning opportunities. These are delivered by a combination of school staff and specialist external providers, giving children the opportunity to develop new skills, interests and friendships beyond the school day.

Examples of clubs that may be offered each term include:

  • Sewing
  • Cooking
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Football
  • Cricket
  • Kickboxing

All clubs begin immediately after school and finish no later than 4.30pm. We kindly ask that parents and carers ensure children are collected promptly at the end of each session.

Applying for a Club

Information and application slips will be sent home with children before the start of each club programme. To be considered for a place, application forms must be:

  • Completed in full
  • Returned by the stated deadline

Unfortunately, applications received after the deadline or forms that have not been completed correctly may not be eligible for consideration.

Allocation of Places

Once all applications have been received, places will be allocated using a random selection process to ensure fairness. A small number of places will be reserved for children who are eligible for Pupil Premium funding.

If your child is allocated a place, you will receive confirmation either through a confirmation slip or via the PING App. For this reason, we strongly encourage all parents and carers to download and regularly check the PING App, as important updates and communications regarding clubs will be sent through this platform.

If demand exceeds the number of available places, children who are unsuccessful in gaining a place will be added to a waiting list and contacted if a place becomes available.

Please note that submitting an application form does not guarantee a place in a club.

Club Charges

After school clubs are an additional, optional provision and are not part of the statutory school curriculum.

To help cover the costs of staffing, resources and facilities, non-sporting clubs are charged at £10 per half term, payable in advance. This charge was approved by the Governing Body on 17 July 2023.

Payments will be made through ParentPay and must be received before the club begins. As places are limited and costs are incurred in advance, refunds will not be available for non-attendance.

Attendance Expectations

Children who are offered a place are expected to attend regularly and commit to the full duration of the club.

Our sports clubs are currently offered free of charge, although they still represent a significant cost to the school. We therefore ask that parents and children make a commitment to attend every session wherever possible.

If a child misses two sessions, the school reserves the right to withdraw the place and offer it to another child on the waiting list.

Children attending sports clubs must wear appropriate PE kit for all sessions.

We greatly value the support of our parents and carers in helping us provide these opportunities. Our after school clubs play an important role in enriching children’s experiences, developing confidence and encouraging new interests and talents.
