Parents Online Safety
Welcome to Bordesley Green Primary School Online Safety Page.
What is Online Safety?
Online Safety encompasses not only Internet technologies but also electronic communications via mobile phones, games consoles and wireless technology.
The Internet has become an important part of children’s lives, enabling them to research school projects, talk to their friends and access information from around the world. Increasing provision of the Internet in and out of schools brings with it the need to ensure that learners are safe.
Internet development is constantly evolving into ever more innovative areas with many websites enabling amazing creativity and interaction between peers. Unfortunately though, there are times when Internet use can have a negative effect on children.
Parents, carers and adults in schools should be aware of the potential dangers and be taking measures to ensure safe usage by all.
Online Safety at Bordesley Green Primary School
At Bordesley Green Primary, we work hard in keeping your children safe, whether your child is in or out of the classrooms; we always make sure your children are safe. The next level of keeping your child safe is on the internet. At Bordesley Green Primary school we use specialised monitoring software known as Policy Central Enterprise. This Software sits on all the computers in schools and monitors what a child types or views on a school computer. With Policy Central Enterprise we can help put a stop to unsuitable and unsafe computer use, including:
- Bullying and threatening behaviour
- Abusive comments or offensive attitudes
- Inadvertent exposure to inappropriate web sites (pornography, violence, suicide)
- Deliberate access to inappropriate web sites
- Online gambling
