Bike Hub launched
We were chosen to host a Bike Hub thanks to HSBC and British Cycling. Ten lucky children now have a bike on loan to take home and use. They learned to ride it safely during the Bikeabilty programme.
World Book Day 2019
On Thursday 7th March 2019 Bordesley Green Primary school held a very special world book day celebration based on the works of William Shakespeare, we even had a visit from the man himself! The children and staff looked fantastic, we had a magical and inspiring day!
BGPS gains the Youth Sport Trust Quality Mark!
We have been awarded the Youth Sport Trust bronze Quality Mark for our commitment to physical education (PE) and school sport. The Youth Sport Trust is a national charity that builds a brighter future for young people through the power of sport.
Bordesley Green Primary School to become a Centre of Excellence in financial education
Bordesley Green Primary School, Birmingham, have been chosen to join the Centre of Excellence programme in financial education. The news comes as part of a ground-breaking new partnership between the UK’s leading financial education charity, Young Money, and HSBC UK.
The announcement means that Bordesley Green Primary School will work with an educational specialist to create a detailed programme of financial education for their children, integrating the subject into their curriculum.
Bordesley Boodle Bazaar Grand Opening
It's a very exciting day at Bordesley Green Primary today. The grand opening of the Bordesley Boodle Bazaar! Will our first customers spend their boodles or save?
Our new schools shop is part our exciting Young Money project in school which aims to teach the children important aspects of Financial Education. Children can earn boodles to spend in the shop by working hard to learn and apply their spellings each week.
A few lucky children from year 3 to year 6 had the opportunity to create clay houses with Miss Hodges from Camp Hill Boys school, Mrs Ahmed and Miss Shaheen. We spent the afternoon learning new vocabulary such as score and slip and we created amazing houses of our choice including spooky houses and candy houses. We had such a great afternoon and we can’t wait to share all the skills we learnt with the rest of our classes!

If your child is in Year 6 you should receive an offer of a school place for September 2019 on March 1st 2019.

World Book Day 2018
On Thursday 1st March 2018, we celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as heroes and villians from our favourite books. Everyone looked amaxing. We are also celebrating reading with visits from a variety of published authors, competitions and reading activities throughout the whole week.
Author visit - Steve Smallman
We have kicked of our World book week with a visit by Steve Smallman, author of books such as 'Dragon Stew' and 'Hippobottymas'. Steve spent time in each Year 3 and Year 4 class talking about his work as an author and also demonstrating some of his talents as an illustrator. The children really enjoyed asking him questions and having a go at drawing their own storybook characters.
Smile Relief Update
In 2017, Bordesley Green Primary School raised over £2000 for the Smile Relief campaign which is dedicated to providing better education for children in developing countries. The Penny Apeeal charity were able to use this money to rebuild a school in Sudan thanks to support of the children and parents of Bordesley Green Primary School. Thank you once again for your generosity.
Modeshiftstars Bronze Award
We were delighted to be presented with our Bronze Modeshiftstars Award in recognition of our work towards sustainable travel, safety and looking after our environment!
Choir sing at QE hospital
To help raise money for the QE Christmas Campaign, some of Year 5 and 6 choir sang in the atrium of the QE hospital. Visitors and patients enjoyed a range of festive songs led by our voal coach, Mrs Mapp.
Children in Need
Wow! Look how much we raised for Children in Need by not wearing uniform and buying cakes! Well done everyone! £1,136 is a massive amount!
